Anisotropic magneto-transport behavior in a hexagonal ferromagnetic EuCuP single crystal

In this study, the magnetism, transport properties, and electronic structure of ferromagnetic EuCuP single crystals were investigated using magnetic and transport measurements and first-principles calculations. The magneto-transport behavior of EuCuP exhibits a large anisotropy for H // c and H // ab. There is an anomalous Hall effect (AHE) and a nonlinear AHE for H // c. However, there is only a normal Hall effect for H // ab, in which the system shows strong ferromagnetism, which is contradictory to the understanding of AHE in conventional ferromagnetic materials. Theoretical calculations showed that there is a small anomalous Hall conductivity (AHC) platform near the Fermi level for M // c state. However, the AHC is almost zero near the Fermi level for M // ab state, which is consistent with experimental measurements. These results indicate that the transverse transport behavior in EuCuP is dominated by an intrinsic me-chanism related to electron band structures.(c) 2023 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
