A novel precoated anaerobic dynamic membrane bioreactor for real domestic wastewater treatment: In-situ formation, filtration performance and characterization of dynamic membrane

•A rapid in-situ pre-coated dynamic membrane formation method was developed.•PC-AnDMBR showed a slightly better pollutants removal compared to SF-AnDMBR.•Stable performance with low TMP increasing rate (0.07 kPa/d) was obtained in PC-AnDMBR.•Gel layer rather than cake layer contributed more to the total filtration resistance.•Gel layer showed the properties of more organics accumulation and lower porosity.
