•Noteworthy fully 3D printed apparatus was designed for in situ electrochemical determination of resorcinol in real water samples.•The procedure presents as an advantageous alternative to traditional methods.•The 3D-printed surface was electrochemically treated using a non-toxic and very fast procedure.•Scanning electron microscopy images display high available carbon black sites after treatment.
