Analysis of placental pathology after COVID-19 by timing and severity of infection

Placentas from COVID-19 infections showed no specific pathological features regardless of timing or severity of disease. There was a higher proportion of COVID-19 positive placentas in earlier gestations with evidence of placental infection-associated features. Future studies should focus on understanding how these placental features in COVID-19 infections go on to impact pregnancy outcomes.
