摘要
•Novel hybrid experimental-computational predicts flow and pressure distributions on measured 3D shapes of flexible shingles exposed to hurricane velocity winds for two hours.•Stereovision with StereoDIC analysis provides unprecedented capability to measure deformations in soft materials without affecting material response, providing previously unavailable baseline data for computational modeling.•Flow recirculation regions on front and top of shingles are predicted to remain attached throughout wind loading, controlling the full-field uplift pressure field.•CFD predictions indicate highest pressures are formed upstream of the sealant layer along the leading-edge and near the tab cutout regions.•Results identified several improvements in shingled roofing systems to reduce both shingle uplift displacements and pressures, potentially increasing their durability under extreme loading conditions.
