A highly efficient luminescent cerium(III) coordination complex with pure-blue emission

Cerium(III) complexes are a kind of promising luminescent materials because of the spin- and parity-allowed doublet-doublet electron transition. Here, we report a stable luminescent cerium(III) complex with a photoluminescent quantum yield of up to 95% in thin film and a nanosecond fluorescent lifetime of 34 ns. The emission peak is at 438 nm and the Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) coordinates (0.145, 0.083) exactly match the standard blue points recommended by National Television Standards Committee (NTSC).
