A simple terpyridine-4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide fluorescence sensor (TERPY-Nap) was designed and successfully employed for selective, sensitive, and reversible detection of divalent metal cations {Cu(II), Co(II), and Ni(II)} in ethanol.
