摘要

•Three HNBO-based polyamine chemosensors (L1–L3) have been designed and synthesized.•The chemosensors show a different ESIPT behavior in ACN and DMSO.•All chemosensors show a fluorescence selective response to Mg2+ in DMSO.•The fluorescence response of L1 and L2 in ACN is shifted towards Zn2+ and Cd2+.•L1 and L3 can signal Mg2+, Zn2+ and Cd2+ also on a paper support.
