Highland pastoralism in the Early Bronze Age Kura-Araxes cultural tradition: Stable oxygen (δ18O) and carbon (δ13C) isotope analyses of herd mobility at Köhne Shahar in northwestern Iran

•δ18O analysis shows that cattle and caprines at KSH accessed different water sources.•δ13C values show limited vertical transhumance of herds within a 1-day radius of KSH.•Despite being herded farther, caprine grazing grounds largely overlapped with cattle.•In addition to transhumance, KSH herds were also provisioned with fodder in winters.•There is no evidence for long-distance pastoral nomadism at KSH.
