Nickel electrodeposition from deep eutectic solvents containing copper ions at a high temperature

•Nickel is electrochemically deposited from an eutectic based ionic liquid in presence of different additives.•Electrodeposition of nickel from ionic liquid containing copper ions improved the surface quality and minimize roughness.•The electroplated nickel from the mentioned electrolyte promote consistent surface morphology.
