Ligands hydrophobicity dependent electrocatalytic CO2 reduction activities of Sn5-oxo clusters

摘要
Two Sn5-oxo clusters with isostructural cores, (nBuSn)5(μ3-O)2(EG4)L3 (H2EG ​= ​ethylene glycol, L ​= ​4-tert-butylbenzoate or 4-hydroxybenzoate), have been successfully prepared using (nBuSn)OH2Cl as tin source precursor. Comparative studies of contact angle test and electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction reveal that the 4-tert-butylbenzoate decorated Sn5 with more hydrophobic surface possesses higher catalytic activity.
