Study on a NURBS surface fitting algorithm

Curve and surface fitting technology is one of the key technologies of 3-dimensional modeling and 3-dimensional design technique. Based on the B-spline method and the corresponding boundary conditions, the method and steps of a cubic NURBS curve and surface fitting were presented in this paper. And then the algorithm was verified by the example of surface fitting. The results show that the algorithm has certain accuracy and it can provide a technical support for surface reverse reconstruction and digital manufacturing in engineering practice.
