摘要
Excitatory/Inhibitory (E/I) imbalance is a proposed pathophysiological mechanism underlying multiple neuropsychiatric disorders including autism spectrum disorders (ASD), schizophrenia, and depression. Experimental therapeutic approaches combining repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) with neuroimaging outcomes (i.e., Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) and Magnetoencephalography (MEG)) hold promise for development of targeted novel interventions. Herein, we describe data from a pilot study investigating the effects of a patterned rTMS protocol, continuous theta burst stimulation (cTBS), on neuroimaging metrics of E/I imbalance in auditory/language processing networks.
