Operationalization of the Kaizen methodology to improve organizational performance: a focus on the process management in an electronic industry

Due to the highly dynamic and competitive environment, organizations are driven to rethink processes and strategies, valuing continuous improvement from different perspectives. This article aimed to apply and diagnose the potential of an improvement model in a packaging line of a manufacturing company, using the Kaizen methodology. Therefore, through an exploratory and descriptive study, of an applied nature and a single case study approach, the mapping of processes and layout was developed, identifying seven offenders which were treated individually. From physical arrangement change, 25% increase in productivity, 55.4% reduction in downtime and 88% decrease in failures and rework, the proposed model presented as an alternative to optimize production processes. This article contributes to a proposal for systematization and operationalization of the concept of continuous improvement in order to improve the indicators of an organization.
