摘要
•Nano-porous CeO2/β-Bi2O3 hollow microspheres were prepared in one-step SSCS.•The specific surface area of CeO2/β-Bi2O3 increases to 54.625 m2·g−1 via SSCS.•CeO2/β-Bi2O3 microspheres show superior visible-light photocatalytic performance.•DFT demonstrates heterogeneous structure facilitates photocatalytic efficiency.•The mechanism of greatly enhanced photoactivity of SSCS CeO2/β-Bi2O3 was proposed.
