Vanadium Ore Resources of the African continent: State of the Art

•The African continent hosts a large number of vanadium ore resources.•The most important V resources are associated with magnetite layers in layered mafic–ultramafic magmatic intrusions.•Economic potential can be found in: vanadate districts, V-bearing graphite bodies, V-bearing uranium deposits.•In historical vanadate district of Namibia and Zambia, re-processable old tailings and slags are widespread.
