摘要
We read with great interest the recently published meta-analysis by Wang et al., 1 Wang Y. Li J. Chang S. Dong Y. Che G. Risk and influencing factors for subsequent primary lung cancer after treatment of breast cancer: a systematic review and two meta-analyses based on four million cases. J Thorac Oncol. 2021; 16: 1893-1908 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF Scopus (28) Google Scholar which found that patients with breast cancer have a higher risk of subsequent primary lung cancer, although the risk can be affected by several factors. According to the novel cancer statistics, breast cancer has now surpassed lung cancer to be the tumor with the highest number of new cases. 2 Sung H. Ferlay J. Siegel R.L. et al. Global cancer statistics 2020: GLOBOCAN estimates of incidence and mortality worldwide for 36 cancers in 185 countries. Therefore, their study could help clinicians not ignore the screening of lung cancer during follow-up. In this previous meta-analysis, we indicated a higher risk and some influencing factors for subsequent primary lung cancer after treatment of breast cancer on the basis of clinical observational studies.1 Wang et al. have proposed some novel perspectives about the potential mechanisms for the elevated risk of subsequent primary lung cancer after breast cancer in their letter to the editor, which is recognized by our team.
