摘要
•Understanding of the impacts of non-native trees on ecosystem services is limited, focused on South Africa.•For three genera (Acacia, Eucalyptus and Pinus), 125 papers record benefit and harm to ecosystem services in the rest of sub-Saharan Africa.•Most publications arise from just four countries with benefits reported more frequently than harm.•The limited data on the impacts of these trees are highly context dependent.•Quantitative assessments of tree distribution and impact, and consideration of local context are needed.
