摘要
A 69-year-old male with a history of metastatic prostate cancer on chemotherapy and lymphedema of bilateral lower extremities presented to the emergency department (ED) in septic shock with confusion and weakness. The patient was hypotensive (blood pressure, 69/50 mm/Hg), tachycardic (heart rate, 110 beats per minute), and tachypneic (respiratory rate, 24 breaths per minute) upon presentation to the ED. On physical examination, erythema and tenderness were observed below the left knee to above the ankle, concerning for cellulitis. Computed tomography (CT) imaging of the left lower extremity revealed prominent thickening of the subcutaneous soft tissues but did not show loculated fluid collection, ulceration, or a sinus tract. The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for further care.
