LST determination of different urban growth patterns: A modeling procedure to identify the dominant spatial metrics

•The urban landscape was divided into different urban growth patterns to enhance the prediction of its Land Surface Temperature (LST).•Urban growth patterns were classified based on their shared borders with focal urban patches.•The LST of the growth patterns was modeled using their spatial forms and the LST of the focal patches.•The most significant variables and the performance of LST prediction varied among the different growth patterns.
