摘要
•Undoped carbon dots (UCDs) show unique optical features than amine doped CDs (ACDs).•Electron transfer (ET) efficiency is more for ACDs with dopamine (DA) than UCDs.•ET rate increases for both the CDs in basic pH due to quinone form of DA.•DA insertion in both the CDs improves their local conductance.•Acidic pH enhances their current revealing an alteration in conduction mechanism.
