A short and long crack growth model with mean stress correction based on cyclic resistance curve

•Stress ratio effect on cyclic resistance curve is considered using a material-independent model;•A fatigue crack growth model considering both stress ratio and short crack effect is proposed;•Fatigue limits and SN curves of notched specimens under different stress ratios are predicted;•Good agreement can be achieved between the proposed model and the experimental results.
