Neighborhood characteristics encouraging micromobility: An observational study for tourists and local users

•We explore spatial associations of e-scooter use based on positional data of trips.•We study the effect of area-specific characteristics at a fine geographic level.•Young population and income have a positive effect, higher in low-income areas.•Public transport stations and local amenities increase e-scooter rides.•E-scooters are preferred in high density areas and where parking is difficult.
