摘要
•Agar acts as simultaneous gelling and etching agent while preparing ZIF-8 aerogel.•ZIF-8 particles in the aerogel attain complete hollow structure on carbonization.•Conductive porous hollow ZIF-8 particles contribute towards capacitance increment.•Removal of Zn-content enhances the specific capacitance by almost four times.•KOH activation further leads to a maximum capacitance of 124.86 F g−1.
