Innovative light-coloured porous asphalt for low-impact pavements: A laboratory investigation

•Laboratory study of porous asphalt concrete made with CDW aggregates and a synthetic transparent binder.•Light-coloured pavements are an adequate solution for the mitigation of the UHI phenomenon.•With the use of 50% CDW aggregates it is possible to obtain suitable material for urban pavement.•The results showed the technical feasibility of the experimental porous mixtures.•Low-impact pavements are a solution for sustainable development .
