Tribological Properties of YT15 Alloy Steel Surfaces with Different Bionic Textures

By imitating the special microstructure of four typical biological surfaces, four types of texture on YT15 alloy steel surface are studied by laser etching, including V-shaped groove, U-shaped groove, rhombic pit and circular pit. The results show that textured surface can not only reduce friction and wear, but also improve hydrodynamic lubrication. Wear occurs due to abrasive and adhesive wear. The unidirectional convergence of groove structure is conducive to fluid flow and has good hydrodynamic lubrication characteristics, especially V-groove. The groove texture is suitable for high speed and medium to high load conditions. The pit texture provides stable hydrodynamic lubrication and optimal friction reduction and wear resistance, especially rhombic pits. Pit texture is suitable for high load conditions. Therefore, the change of texture shape and arrangement is of great significance to improve the tribological properties of workpiece surface under different working conditions, and has a certain research value.
