MicroRNA-370 as a negative regulator of signaling pathways in tumor cells

Cancer is one of the leading causes of human deaths globally. Late diagnosis is one the main reasons of treatment failure and high mortality among cancer patients. Therefore, investigating the molecular mechanisms involved in tumor progression is required to identify the novel therapeutic targets and early detection markers. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have important roles in regulation of the cellular and molecular mechanisms during tumor progression. Here, we discussed the role of miR-370 in regulation of cellular mechanisms during tumor progression. MiR-370 has mainly a tumor suppressor function by regulation of transcription factors and signaling pathways including WNT, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT, Transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), Janus kinase (JAK)-signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT), and Nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB). The present review paves the way to introduce the miR-370 as a non-invasive marker for the early tumor detection in cancer patients.
