Underweight, overweight, obesity and associated factors among elementary school children: A cross-sectional study in Kerman province, Iran

•The prevalence of obesity, overweight and underweight among students was 9%, 10% and 17%, respectively.•A correlation was observed between age, monthly income, type of school, place of residence, mother's job and students' nutrition with weight abnormalities.•More than 35% of children suffer from one type of weight disorder.•Underweight is also considered a health issue in our society just like obesity and overweight.
