•Volumetric and transport properties of CO2-loaded aqueous DMBA solutions were studied.•The properties investigated were density, dynamic viscosity, refractive index, and electrical conductivity.•Solute-solvent interactions predominate over solute–solute interactions.•DMBAH-bicarbonate salt behaved as structure breaker in solvent.
