•Machine learning models constructed for statistical classification of species molecular structure based on vacuum ultraviolet absorption spectra.•Quantitative, high-resolution absorption spectra measured in the vacuum-ultraviolet for 102 absorption spectra, 24 of which were measured for the first time, including hydrocarbons and oxygenates relevant to combustion chemistry and atmospheric chemistry.•Detailed uncertainty analysis calculations conducted on absorption cross-sections.
