Performance characteristics of a parallel plate dosimeter based on PVA/MWCNT-OH nanocomposite for photon beam radiation

•A parallel plate dosimeter based on the PVA/MWCNT-OH nanocomposite was introduced.•The dosimetric characteristics of this dosimeter were studied for gamma-rays at the SSDL of Iran.•Linearity, polarity effect, angular, field size and energy dependence were carried out.•This dosimeter was approximately-three times more sensitive than the standard reference dosimeters.•This dosimeter is suitable for routine dosimetric procedures in photon beam radiation.
