Missed appointments in a tertiary academic pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus service: cross-sectional study and literature review.

Missed appointments in our pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus academic center are more likely new patient referrals, prior no-shows, referrals from nurse practitioners, and nonsurgical diagnoses. These findings may facilitate targeted strategies to help improve utilization of healthcare resources.
