Impact of AgNPs on the optical thermometry and stability of bismuth modified tellurium-tungstate upconverting glass

•Upconverting tellurite glasses have been prepared via melt-quenching technique.•Heat-treatment of the as-synthesized glasses reduces the Ag2+ ions to AgNPs.•Codoping of AgNPs enhances the green UC emission intensity by ∼ 68 times.•The glasses incorporated with AgNPs show better SA and SR and higher stability.•The prepared glasses can be useful as a temperature sensing probe.
