•CD11c+ cells, neutrophils and AECs, and lung have decreased HDAC2 and increased p-NFkB levels in mice with mixed granulocytic asthma.•CD11c+ cells, neutrophils and AECs, and lung have increased oxidative inflammation in mice with mixed granulocytic asthma.•Dexamethasone fails to control oxidative inflammation, whereas BTK inhibition controls it.•BTK inhibition restores corticosteroid sensitivity through reduction in pulmonary oxidative stress and restoration of HDAC2.
