A Discontinuous Galerkin Method for Solving Radiative Transfer Equation with Semitransparent Boundary Conditions

The radiative transfer equation (RTE) for two-dimensional problems involving scattering, absorption and radiation with semitransparent interface is solved using the discontinuous Galerkin (DG) finite element method (FEM). Both space and angle directions are discretized by the DG method. A parallel procedure is used that solves a succession of sub-domains created by angular decomposition (AD) scheme. A two-medium problem with a semitransparent interface is conducted to study the performance of the method.
