摘要
Tele-rehabilitation has been researched by various clinical researchers. However, multiple challenges are open to enable seamless and practical tele-rehabilitation systems. The basic requirement of tele-cardiac rehab is time criticality in providing feedback to the patient and therapist. Existing studies generally assume ideal network conditions, and hence lack a nuanced approach towards practical deployment. In collaboration with physicians, we have designed, developed, and pilot-tested, an end-to-end tele-cardiac rehabilitation system that consists of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) devices at the patient end, a mathematical model to capture the complexities of networks, a set of applications running on mobiles as well as web service to capture the data and present to doctors. Tele-consultation facility is integrated into the same application. In our pilot study was compare the performance of our system on four different mobile networks in various stable and unstable environments. We demonstrate that it is possible to achieve a highly complex, yet real-time tele-cardiac rehabilitation system that can potentially improve patient care, and bring down healthcare costs.
