摘要
In this study, we present very preliminary results using a GIS-built GeoDatabase, showing that a likely correlation exists between locations of rising of fluid/gas emissions from the crust and morphotectonic processes affecting the offshore Palinuro Volcano Chain, within the Tyrrhenian back-arc basin (southern Italy). In our pilot investigations, we use geological and geochemical data from literature and some preliminary geochemical results from a new offshore campaign in the Palinuro area. We stress that detailed GIS analysis of poorly accessible, yet volcanic and hydrothermally related seafloors is crucial for a better planning for future and refined sampling campaigns. This also will allow to better define refined locations for future deployment of multidisciplinary submarine observatory.
