Sleep and psychological characteristics of children with cancers and type 1 diabetes and their caregivers

•Chronic pediatric conditions are characterized by sleep disturbances.•Children with cancer report lower sleep quality than healthy control.•Psychological adjustment is associated with sleep disturbances in children with cancer and T1D.•Caregivers of children with cancer group reported the worst sleep quality and greater anxiety.•Sleep problems in children were associated with poorer caregivers' sleep quality.
