Service Function Chaining-based Traffic Steering Support in the 5G System.

Mobile carriers run IP services like DDoS protection, NAT, and firewalls on their own over the N6-LAN interface. For the 5G system (5GS), 3GPP Rel-18 specified the service function chaining (SFC) requirements in order to steer traffic through N6-LAN. Developing standards for SFC services over the N6-LAN interface is now in early stages. In order to provide N6-LAN service, this paper proposes the SFC function in the 5GS. We also examine that our proposal complies with the 3GPP Rel-18 SFC requirements.
