Studies show that land-living ani-mals, plants, fungi, and bacteria leave DNA traces in the air. These results imply that sequencing of bioaerosols might be a powerful tool for simultaneous surveys of ter-restrial biodiversity across lifeforms, but in parallel, it highlights the need to carefully control for possible contaminants.
