摘要
Helicobacter infection is highly prevalent in Africa, and its diagnosis, treatment and complications pose significant challenges particularly in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). While the new Maastricht VI/Florence consensus report offer much-awaited guidelines in the various aspects of the management of H. pylori, they also highlight some of the unique challenges that we face in SSA in adequately managing this infection. These include but are not limited to the treatment of all infected patients, the prevalence of gastric adenocarcinoma in SSA , particularly in the context of the so-called "African enigma", as well as the lack of access to effective therapies. This correspondence aims to briefly highlight some of these issues, and offer some possible solutions.
