Parental Health Mindset Is Related to Preoperative Perceptions of Chest Wall Anomalies.

Parental growth mindset was associated with more positive assessments of children's symptoms and limitations due to pectus deformities than fixed mindsets. Health mindset has been linked to patient perceptions of, and outcomes for, diabetes, renal disease, allergies, scoliosis, and obesity. Further study into parental and patient mindset correlation may help elucidate factors for bracing compliance, and perhaps to better prepare children and parents for corrective surgical procedures.
