•k-means can be used as a method to assist in the categorization of isotopic patterns.•Isotopic analysis (δ15N, δ13C) in dentinal collagen reconstructs breastfeeding and weaning.•Weaning duration was estimated automatically with the tool WEAN.•Weaning in Thessaloniki varied regardless of chronology, gender, and burial context.•10% of the dataset was not breastfed or experienced physiological stress during infancy.
