摘要
In this editorial, we introduce the special issue "Building a Socially and Culturally Responsive Psychology. " Our aim in bringing together this collection is to highlight multiple ways of knowing and to emphasise systemic psychological conceptualizations. In this way, we honour the valiant efforts made to date to introduce greater social and cultural responsiveness across the field of psychology. At the same time, we think it is critical to propel professional psychology much further to truly address antiracism, anti-oppression, indigeneity, social justice, intersectionality, and human rights. Accordingly, this special issue includes 16 articles that cover various topics pertaining to (1) the importance of representation in psychology, (2) Indigenous and Black well-being and mental health, (3) ableism, and (4) immigrant and refugee resettlement. We hope that this special issue prompts readers to think deeply about the current state of our field and to (re)consider ways to continue moving forward to achieve equity for multiple individuals and communities who have been, and continue to be, sociopolitically underrepresented and marginalised.
