Review on new ionophore species for membrane ion selective electrodes

Analysis of trace amounts of ions poses a challenge to most analytical chemists. For this purpose, ion-selective electrodes (ISE) are extensively used. The widespread interest of researchers in the use of ISEs is due to their several advantages over other analytical methods. In the present review, we have discussed research papers of the last twelve years and have explained the effect of the membrane composition in working of these sensors. We have also enumerated various PVC-based ISE for determining ions and have described the applications of these electrodes in the determination of these ions in several environmental water samples and other samples.
