Portuguese translation An International Continence Society (ICS) report on the terminology for adult neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (ANLUTD)

Introduction: The terminology for neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction in adults (LUTD) should be defined and organized on a clinical basis in a consensus report.Methods: This report was created by a Working Group under the endorsement and guidelines of the Standardization Steering Committee (SSC) of the International Continence Society (ICS), assisted at intervals by external reviewers. All relevant definitions for DNTUIA have been updated based on research over the last 14 years. An extensive process of 18 rounds of internal and external review was carried out to exhaustively examine each definition, with decision making by collective opinion (consensus).Results: The Terminology Report for the DNTUIA, encompassing 97 definitions (42 new and eight modified), was developed. This report is clinically based on the most common defined diagnoses. Clarity and ease of use have been key goals in making it interpretable by practitioners and trainees across all different groups involved not only in lower urinary tract dysfunction but also in many other medical specialties.Conclusion: Based on the consensus, the Terminology Report for the DNTUIA was produced to assist in research and clinical practice.
