Research on dynamic behavior and gas explosion resistance of polyurea

A series of laboratory and field tests were carried out to study the dynamic mechanical properties and gas explosion resistance of polyurea. Considering the strain rate sensitivity of polyurea, the failure criteria of polyurea retrofitted cement board (PRCB) at different explosion response stages were calculated. Combined with the energy spectrum of explosion wave and dynamic thermodynamics, the energy dissipation mechanism of polyurea was analyzed. The results show that the conventional mechanical indexes of polyurea were increased after special curing, and the explosion resistance of polyurea with the same thickness was increased by 21%. Doublesided spraying and increasing the thickness of polyurea on rear face were conducive to improve the explosion resistance of PRCB. Under the gas explosion load, polyurea exhibited slight glassy characteristics while retaining elastic properties. The elastic characteristics of polyurea contributed to the large deformation of the component, and the glass transition improved the energy dissipation ability of polyurea.
