Effect of fruit debagging before harvest on the accumulation of anthocyanins in peach (Prunus persica L.) fruit based on transcriptome analysis

•Bagging of peach inhibited anthocyanin synthesis leading the poor color.•Debagging before peach harvest improved the anthocyanin content and the color.•Debagging in ‘Xiahui 8′ increased the gene expression of invertase and hexokinase.•Debagging in peach enhanced the gene expression related to MBW complexes.•Debagging enhanced the expression of genes in anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway.
