QTL analysis for low temperature tolerance of wild potato species Solanum commersonii in natural field trials

•The first analysis of potato frost resistance QTL loci employing actual field-based nature frost characteristics.•Chr02 and Chr11 chromosomes were shown to contain regulatory loci for potato field frost resistance.•Different loci regulate how resistant plants are to frost at various low-temperature pressures.
