MgO promoted by Fe2O3 and nitrate molten salt for fast and enhanced CO2 capture: Experimental and DFT investigation

摘要
•Fe2O3 promoted AMS-MgO enhanced adsorption capacity (14.86 mmol/g).•Rapid sorption rate of Mg98Fe2-AMS10 within 20 min due to the catalysis of Fe.•DFT with Vdw correction was applied to study adsorption mechanism.•Affinity of MgO with CO2 is increased due to the enhanced potential field by Fe.•AMS and Fe co-promoted MgO achieved the effect of 1 + 1 > 2 on CO2 adsorption.
